Some interesting Israeli Technological Developments have recently been in the news:

Jerusalem Post reported about an “Israeli firm develops unique solar energy system“, including a video about it.

“Israeli ingenuity and invention could potentially produce a global revolution in solar electricity generation. The solar energy market has generally been divided into photovoltaic (PV) solar power and large-scale solar thermal power plants – until now. Aora Solar, part of the E.D.I.G. Group, has developed a small-scale hybrid solar thermal power plant which could open up a whole new market.” .. Read the whole thing and view the accompanying VIDEO “Researchers develop new technology to generate electricity“.  More info can be found at the Aora-Solar website.

Eflux Media has a video clip about the project, saying:

“”An Israeli company wants to prove it doesn’t need constant sunshine for a solar power plant to make non-stop electricity to power off-grid communities. AORA is constructing its first hybrid solar power station in Israel’s Negev desert, where companies are competing to create more efficient technologies and tap into the multi-billion dollar clean energy market. AORA’s idea is to combine traditional fuel such as biomass or diesel with low-carbon solar power, during daylight, to generate uninterrupted electricity. The approach is a novel answer for handling the variability of solar power, a major challenge which otherwise requires expensive batteries or other forms of storage to provide round-the-clock power”

Another development: “Elbit Reveals Weapons of the Future“, in an article at Israel National News with a video clip which can be viewed HERE or below  (More can be learned from the Elbit Systems website):

Another interesting report on an energy development utilizing nuclear fuel. One such report via Discover Magazine announced that ”"De-Clawed” Nuclear Fuel Would Provide Only Electricity, Not Bombs“, referring to a March 3 Jerusalem Post article - “BGU combats nuclear proliferation” By Judy Siegel-Itzkovich.

“Ben-Gurion University of the Negev engineers have developed a practical technique to “denature” plutonium created in large nuclear reactors and make it unsuitable for a dozen countries that are building reactors – mostly Arab or Islamic states – to produce nuclear arms.”.. Read the whole Jerusalem Post article

ScienceMode Magazine also reported about the nuclear fuel scientific project headed by Yigal Ronen, “Ben-Gurion University engineers develop technique to help combat nuclear proliferation“:

“When you purchase a nuclear reactor from one of the five countries, it also provides the nuclear fuel for the reactor,” explains Prof. Yigal Ronen, of BGU’s Department of Nuclear Engineering, who headed the project. “Thus, if the five agree to insert the additive into fuel for countries now developing nuclear power – such as Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Namibia, Qatar, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Yemen – they will have to use it for peaceful purposes rather than warfare.”  Read the whole thing
